Should you update?

The latest ReSkate release is v1.1.3, published on October 6, 2026. Read its changes in the Current version section above, then decide whether they affect your setup. Updating the client does not imply support for a newer Steam game build.

Must for affected clothing or costume mod users on an earlier release: v1.1.3 fixes costume merging. Costumes from different mods built on the same game costume keep their textures and meshes. The fix rebuilds merged bundle chunk metadata in chunk GUID order, with one record per chunk. Update if this issue affects your setup; this recommendation applies to those mods, not every player.

Optional if you only play vanilla skate. without mods and do not use multiplayer. Review the published notes before changing a setup that already works; this page does not tell every player to update immediately.

New installation users should review the safety guide before running a download. Defender alerts were reported on v1.0.8; that does not establish that no alerts occurred on earlier releases, or that any download is harmless.

ReSkate supports Steam build 25414733 only. If Steam updates skate. beyond that build, the client requires you to re-process your game files before it will start. Check this requirement before updating either the client or the game. ReSkate is licensed under GPL-3.0.

Read the ReSkate safety guide before a new installation

What changed in 1.1.x

1.1.3 — Fix costume merging, restrict server names, add Centrix tag Mod merge: rebuild a merged bundle's chunk metadata the way the game writes it (one record per chunk, in chunk GUID order), so costumes from different mods built on the same game costume keep their textures and meshes Merge audit checks that layout, and there is a new unit test for it Server names: only letters, numbers, spaces and - _ [ ] ( ), 1 to 64 characters; the server browser hides servers with other names New Centrix tag from the backend's "centrix" list: blue and white name, badge and item animation, ranked after Dev and before Creator

1.1.2 — No release notes published

1.1.1 — tag preview, separate switches and per-item colors Split the single switch into "Show my tag" and "Show my items", and show the tag as chat and nametags draw it. Color whatever is equipped instead of the one hoodie and pink board: top, bottoms, shoes, socks, hat, glasses, outfit, costume, deck, grip tape, trucks and wheels, each set on its own. Each item can use its list's animation (rainbow, red or gold), a gradient between two picked colors, one solid color, or be off. The choices travel with the player's appearance so everyone sees them. Protocol version 41.

1.1.0 — Merge pull request #42 from xThrasherrr/fix/server-window-closes-on-e… …rror Keep the server window open after a startup failure until Enter is pressed

Mods and version compatibility

ReSkate checks each mod against the game build it was made for. The client supports Steam build 25414733 only. If Steam updates skate. past that build, the launcher asks you to re-process your files before it will start.

Mods that are out of date, or that fail to merge with the current build, are skipped — and the launcher names them while everything else loads normally. You do not have to hunt for the broken one.

You can turn individual mods on and off from the MODS tab in the in-game ReSkate menu; changes apply immediately without restarting. Installed mods live in Mods\<mod name>\ inside the game directory, and load order is read from Mods\mods.json.

Known issues by version

Windows Defender alerts — reported from v1.0.8 onward. Some machines show Behavior:Win32/DefenseEvasion.A!ml when the launcher runs. See our Is ReSkate Safe? page for what the detection name means and how to verify your download.

Custom maps and servers hanging on load — reported on v1.0.8, not present in v1.0.7. We describe this as reported on 1.0.x rather than confirmed fixed. Read the loading report.

Steam build mismatch — if skate. updates beyond build 25414733, the client requires re-processing. See our full ReSkate download and install guide.

How to check your version

The launcher checks for its own updates every time it starts, and prompts you before downloading a newer build. If you are not sure whether you are behind, launch it once and read the prompt.

FAQ

What is the latest version of ReSkate?

v1.1.3, published on October 6, 2026 at 04:43 UTC.

How often does ReSkate update?

The release list currently contains 13 stable releases, from October 2, 2026 to October 6, 2026. Check the Version history section for the actual cadence; this page does not assume a fixed release schedule.

Do I have to update to play online?

Check the release notes and the server requirements before updating for multiplayer. This page lists a protocol number only when the upstream notes provide it; an absent number does not establish compatibility. If joining fails, compare your client and server versions before changing your setup.

What happens if I skip an update?

You keep the older release and its documented behavior, including any bugs that have since been fixed. An older release is not guaranteed to keep working after game or server changes. The supported Steam build requirement still applies.

How do I know a download is genuine?

Download only from the official GitHub releases page and compare the SHA-256 of the file you received against the value listed in the Current version table above.

Is v1.0.x still supported?

The project does not publish a support policy for older versions. If you are on 1.0.x and run into trouble, updating is the recommended first step.
